Sunday Models, bit late.

Marbo he done. Heres some Pics.

Now for other bits, heres the work on his Camo Cloak, it's still drying off so no real progress with that other than the colouring:

I managed to get the lascannons painted for the vendettas, but I still need the Magnets to make anything go, speaking of which I decided to customise one flyer to make it easier to transport, hope I don't regret it.

Once I get the Magnets it should be Okay, I hope.

I also dug out a few more chaps who are ready to get  primed and painted, 2 flamers a Melta and a Missile Launcher.

Thats about it for now, more this weekend I expect. I have ordered my Christmas presents for myself...

  • 4 Chimeras Courtesy of Maelstrom, with 17% off Christmas Code!
  • 4 Flak Cannons From the amazing Bitspudlo.com  - I emailed to ask about stock and they got back to me in hours, on a Saturday!
  • 1 Set of Templates Courtesy of Maelstrom,
  • 3 New The Army Painter Brushes Courtesy of Maelstrom
  • Small Resin Fans and Grilles From Kit at Zinge Industries, they fit perfectly over those stupid Lasgun ports so I'll be covering up all my current ones too. I would recommend Kit, getting back to me about stock on a Sunday, in a couple of hours!
I wouldn't have heard about any of these without Dakka Dakka they are great for supporting the community as well as these independent producers of kit.

So that'll be 4 Chimeras/Hydras, without stupid Lasgun Ports. I plan to make the Chimeras like these: theback40k.blogspot.com/2009/07/pimpin-my-rides.html

Mounting weapons and "Marbo"

Got on with a bit more stuff this morning, nowt special, first was touching up Marbo, so that he looks lie hes throwing the "demo charge" instead of it being grafted to his hand.

I filed down the top of the belt on the hand and added more of it coming out the bottom of it, I think it looks pretty dynamic now.

Marbo Back

I was also thinking to make him stand out and fit in with the sort of subterfuge hidden chap striking from the shadows that he needs something to show this.

I want to try and capture him standing up with his charge and chucking it on something whilst his camo is falling away. I saw something like this in a movie once, I think, probably.

The concept it so make a camo netting style cloak, like this:

It does fit the two search criteria, Camo and Net.

Actually more like this:

Urban netting.

So I did a mock up with a bit of tissue paper, the concept is to use Gauss bandage and just cure it in a PVA Water + Paint mix to give it colour and shape, then stick it on. Not sure how it will turn out, I'll make it first then try and apply it.

Marbo is currently drying after being black primed, so I can paint some of him, going to have to take care with him. Although in games he'll be there for 1 turn...

Next was to look at the Vendettas, with the 2nd Magnet order hopefully here for Thursday

The unpacked paint table, staying neater this time!
I'm going to have to magnetise the Hardpoints as well as the three weapon options for both of the planes.

A hardpoint

Weapon options
I'm also going to have to do the same for the weapon housing on the front of the plane.

Multilaser or Lascannon

How it should fit.
Because when I put the first Valk together I didn't realise that I shouldn't glue everything down I did had to do some pulling and snapping to get things off, so time to fix that mess, using the Liquid green stuff, which is great.

Best brush ever!

Pint filled and hole drilled

Repairs on the rockets.

I also chanced upon my ladys collection of a Blood Angel army that is pretty much untouched. hoping to try and get her playing, either with these or her Dark Space Elves. Theres also a Metal Daemon Prince in there and I remember there being a Juggernaught of Khorne somewhere else..

Shiny red Man Dollies! Needs more Melta.

Pre gaming last minute modelling.

It always happens, you know your going to play tomorrow, got to get something done that you said you would.

So tonight I watched Sherlock, episode 2 of the excellent BBC drama. And did some flocking.

the Vets all got flocked and I decided to do some designation, behold Squad BLUE and the Vendetta for them:

Squad Blue

And again
It's only the 1 marking on the Vendetta.

These guys are just still squad GREEN, the 3rd squad will likely be red, when I get round to buying the models to make a 3rd.

Theres also the two CCS Melta chaps and the Steel Legion lieutenant, thinking of it now as I write, there are 2 Steel Legion troopers in my bag somewhere without any flock. Damm.

Squad Green and the Melta boys.
I managed to also finish off Basing the Vendettas, I was quite proud of my Road basing, heres squad Blue standing on it.

They have roads in the 41st Millenium

After deploying.

Stay on the pavement, got to be safe

Both Flying bases together.

I feel it was a productive enough evening, who knows maybe I can get a win tomorrow, doubt it...

Working with resin.

So I started work on the Forge World kits for the Vendettas, some of them needed a bit of bending on the cannons, they weren't quite straight.

The bits cleaned and quickly tac#d together to check, you can see the minor bend on a couple.
So being a resourceful person, I grab our trusty and totally functioning kettle, sometimes the lid pops open when it's boiling, I think that's a feature...

Anyway, time to correct a bit of warping.

Fingers may get scalded.

I also stuck on the searchlights from the Vendetta kit, and gave them a lick of paint, I quite like the look of them, not sure how I'm going to paint them though, I guess that'll require a Google.
Searchlight
I also started work on a few troops to supplement my army list, to bring it up to two infantry platoons, this needed a Steel Legion Lieutenant (Junior Officer) a trooper and a Grenade Launcher, these were all acquired off eBay, stripped and primed:

Steel Legion PCS

This being the season of the Melta and not the age of 1 Heavy Weapon and 1 Special Weapon, more Meltas are needed, you can never have too many. Unfortunately being the owner of 2 types of Guardsmen, Valhallans and Steel Legion, I have to get the right models and these ones are some of the hardest to find, unless I'm willing to pay Games Workshop €12 for one and another trooper with a flamer in the same Blister.

Thankfully eBay once again provides, it's taken about a month of bidding, saved search emails and buying of models to acquire 3 of these chaps, 1 more is en route, from Canada, and still cheaper than GWs crazy prices and insane packaging, I mean, who wants to give a guardsman a flamer?

CCS Melta Vets
And here's every model that's getting painted at the moment, the Vendetta Cannons are in the background primed and awaiting some paint, also waiting on my magnets and a drill to actually get them all installed.

Everyone on the production line.
