Quick battle reports + Bonus Croc

On the 23rd of July I played at an event in Cork, and also helped run it.

I ended up playing only 2 games, letting the other organiser have a go round 2.

I took the same Haley2/Caine2 pair as before.

Game 1 was against Rob Read
He had some Menoths.

He dropped Severius2 and I dropped Haley2.
Hierarch Severius
* Blessing of Vengeance
* Reckoner
* Reckoner
* Redeemer
* Redeemer
Idrian Skirmishers
* Idrian Skirmishers Chieftain & Guide
Choir of Menoth
Visgoth Juviah Rhoven & Honor Guard
Vassal Mechanik

I'm going second.

Rob runs all his stuff up and I do the same, Thorn is Prey'd by the Idrians so he goes and hides behind a forest.
Haley casts Decel and I wait it out.

Rob manages to put a lot of damage onto one Stormclad and cripples both arms, he doesn't get to do much else, his jacks toe the zone.

Arlan repairs the Clad and I go in on Rhoven and some other models and feat on him to stop any retaliation.

Rob shoots some more but fails to kill the same jack again. He feats and kills Ragman, a Stormlance survives just stopping him from freeing up an additional warjack shot.

I repair with Arlan again, Haley goes, TAs the Avenger, TKs a pesky Reckoner out of the way and TKs a Clad forward.
The Avenger walks forward to Shoot at his Jack fortress, knocking down Blessing (removing the Shield guard), 1 Reckoner and taking a shot on a choir man near Sevvy to knock him down.
The Lances press forward, two assaulting into Sevvy and 1 runs round to be an allocation beacon, they do a bit of damage.
The TK'd clad walks up into the gap left by the TK'd Reckoner and puts Sevvy in the dirt in very short order.

ASSASSINATION WIN

My next game is Longy (Trolls) vs Merlin (Mercs) Longy gets a clock win, very narrowly.

My 3rd and final round opponent is Mark "Tinder" Hayes
He has some Ret:
Issyria, Sibyl of Dawn
* Sylys Wyshnalyrr, the Seeker
* Hyperion
* Chimera
Dawnguard Sentinels
* Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard
Mage Hunter Assassin
Mage Hunter Assassin
Mage Hunter Strike Force
* Strike Force Commander
Arcanist
Arcanist
Arcanist

I chose Haley again because he has a Colossal and it is Outlast.

Mark goes first and runs his Sentinels to cover my right zone, MHSF to the left and Hyperion is in the middle with support, the Chimera is near the Sentinels.

I push up and Decel, hoping to make it through his MHSF shooting, staying out of the obvious threat ranges.

A Couple of Lances die and they get Blinding Lighted, Thorn takes a little bit of damage but keeps on ticking.

I use a combination of the Avenger (TA'd), Thorn, both Clads and Arcane Bolts I am able to clear my left hand zone, Haley moves in to feat and dominate for 2.

Mark can't do much, he charges a Lance that was thrown into the zone to contest and kills it, he also puts Hyperion into my zone.

I use both Clads with help from Ragman to kill Hyperion and put another Lance into the other zone and go up to 4CPs.

The Lance in the other zone is threatening free strikes on a bunch of sentinels so they can't really get into my zone, the Chimera, 2 Sentinels and two Mechaniks get into my zone, Mark clears the Lance, going up to 4CPs.

I am able to TK and run a Lance to contest Marks Zone, I dominate out the admonition’d Chimera and a Clad kills the two Mechaniks, I go to 5CPs.

Scenario WIN!

With that the Tournament is over, I take a slightly odd path to 1st and nab the new Cygnar Battlebox.

Here's a picture of Snapjaw.

Tomorrow I'm going to try Sloan:
Captain Kara Sloan
* Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator
* Defender
* Defender
* Defender
* Grenadier
* Grenadier
Trencher Infantry Min
* 3 Trencher Infantry Rifle Grenadier
Captain Arlan Strangewayes
Gun Mage Captain Adept
Captain Maxwell Finn
Gobber Tinker
Bunker

I dunno how it's going to perform but I'd like to give it a try.

Tournament Time

On Saturday I ran a small Steamroller at the local shop to usher in Mk3's Street Release.

Unfortunately this release has had some serious stock issues that have caused woes for a lot of shops across the world. It's a shame that people couldn’t get the toys they wanted but it means that Mk3 is pretty popular.

I had two lists for the weekend:
(Haley 2) Major Victoria Haley
 - Avenger
 - Stormclad
 - Stormclad
 - Thorn
 - Squire
Captain Arlan Strangewayes
Storm Lances (max)
Ragman

(Caine 2) Captain Allister Caine
 - Defender
 - Hunter
 - Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator
Storm Lances (max)
Stormblade Infantry
 - Stormblade Infantry Officer & Standard
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt
 - Captain Jonas Murdoch
 Journeyman Warcaster
 - Charger
Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios
Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord

Before the event kicked off I got in a game on the Friday evening as I was putting up a few travelling gamers from Dublin.

 This game was against Conor playing Madrak2 and the following list:
(Madrak 2) Madrak Ironhide, World Ender
 - Mulg the Ancient
 - Pyre Troll
 - Troll Axer
 - Trollkin Runebearer
Krielstone Bearer & Stone Scribes (max)
 - Stone Scribe Elder
Trollkin Warders (min)
Janissa Stonetide
Swamp Gobbers Bellows Crew
Feralgeist
Trollkin Fennblades (max)
 - Fennblade Officer and Drummer
Fennblade Kithkar
Fell Caller Hero

I'm not 100% this is correct as I can’t remember exactly what support models he had and all the trolls look the same.
This list is 2 points shy so I'm probably missing something.

I opted to play Haley2 into it.

I won the roll and elected to go first.
Conor picked the side with some rolling fog to hide behind and no inconvenient forest.

I unpacked by running everything up with the triple TK and reaction drive move.

Conor Ran everything forward and sat Madrak on Janissas hill with all the warders and fenblades surrounding him.

I then setup some Charges with the Storm Lances and sent the Clads in after the Avenger got a good Knock down shot off that was shield guarded into the back of his lines.
I pushed Haley up onto the flag and feated. There were two fennblades left alive, both knocked down, and 1 warder had died.
I managed to catch most the models under the feat.

Conor then used Madrak to trigger a Warpath Mulg by throwing his Axe at a Lance to move Mulg into melee with Both Stormclads, charged in Janissa and did a bunch of damage with an armour pierce.
Then Mulg was able to kill one clad but didn’t come close to crippling anything on the other.
Warders and the remaining models moved up to gather around Madrak and Conor passed the turn, I scored 1 CP.

Madrak was now stood with 6 Grim Salvation Targets 2 of which were Warders and 2 were Gobbers, camping 3.
I set about engineering some Lance charges into the screening Models, one killed a Warder and Knocked down the Fenblade next to Madrak (tough) The other killed Janissa and the two gobbers.
They reposition so that one is engaging Madrak but not the Knocked Down Fenblade but is also within 3" of where Ragman will end up being.
2 Grim Targets left.... Thorn then runs across the board and Haley Arcs a TK through him into the warder that is over 1" away from Madrak moving him out of Grim range, 1 valid target left.
This is where I cheat and TA both the Clad and the Avenger, which is against the rules of course as TA can only be cast once, but the Avenger is able to hit the Knocked Down Fennblade on the first shot (not Snakes with a Future Sight boost if needed).
This Knocks down Madrak who is now being Dark shrouded by the Storm Lance. The Clad now walks in staying in Mulgs melee range and beats Madrak to death, with 2 focus left to spare.

Assassination Win

Thoughts:
Madrak2 is really scary, if that Pyre is a Bouncer I'm not sure how I win this game, perhaps I have to TK and Timebomb Madrak and hope the Jacks don't miss, I can probably send in the Avenger as well to apply some sword.
Thinking about the above, it’s not that bad if I can land both of those, 4 for time Bomb, 2 for TK, 2 on the Avenger none on the Clad. Have 1 spare to boost/future sight a spell and have Arlan power boost the final one on the Clad.
Storm Lances are great, they are so good at killing most everything in the game, and reposition is awesome.
Pre Measuring also allows for great little tricks like the Ragman/AoE/Engaging plan.
Playing against Madrak2 again I’d probably stick to the same strategy, kill the important screening models, feat to control and stay over 6" away from Mulg under feat.

So after that game it was bed time in preparation for the tournament Saturday.

I show up early to get things setup and do the pairings, because of drops I'm playing and get paired against one of the Dublin lads, Sean, playing Cygnar.
Now it's my fault that I persuaded him to play the below list the night previous and offered him the toys as well.
(Sloan 1) Captain Kara Sloan
 - Avenger
 - Defender
 - Dynamo
 - Hunter
 - Hunter
 - Hunter
 - Hunter
 - Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator
Captain Arlan Strangewayes

I select Haley2 and lose the roll so pick a side with good access to a hill and with my flag behind a building.

Sean runs everything turn one.

I do the TK and Reaction drive trick, cast Decel and move Haley forward.

Sean assassinates me.

Assassination loss

Thoughts:
Well I was useless, I don't even know what I was doing unpacking like that, I'm going to put this one down to just having not thought about my plan, and I really should have castled up behind the Building or Rocks and waited.
It seems like an okay matchup for Haley although I reckon she probably just loses 2 Jacks a turn to the shooting and this probably isn't enough to win the game.

With that over I have plenty of time to go and heckle other players and watch other games happening, as well as get scenario elements ready and take results.

Round 2 I am paired up against Keith playing Khador, he has Butcher3 and the new caster, Kozlov. One list has a lot of Doom Reavers in that will make short work of Haleys jacks so I opt for Caine figuring I can probably just try and assassinate Butcher3 as his list only has 3 heavies.

Keith picks Kozlov:
(Kozlov 1) Lord Kozlov, Viscount of Scarsgrad
 - War Dog
 - Juggernaut
 - Juggernaut
 - Juggernaut
Doom Reaver Swordsmen
 - Greylord Escort
 Doom Reaver Swordsmen
 - Greylord Escort
 Doom Reaver Swordsmen
 - Greylord Escort
Doom Reaver Swordsmen
 - Greylord Escort

Unfortunately due to the late hour the night before when Keith was writing his list he didn't realise that Kozlovs spell that provides pathfinder and steady was battle group only.

He didn’t realise this until his turn 1.

I lost the roll and elected to have him deal with the big forest, I also wasn't aware of the spells failings at this point.

Keith goes first and runs two units up and the other two have to run around the forest as well, making two channels. His battle group and caster, run through the forest.

Caine moves up on the right and starts to trick shot Doom Reavers, he manages to kill a whole pile, the rest of the army does the same and I have removed two full units and two models from another unit.

Keith is able to get 2 charges on Storm Lances and runs the rest of his force, the two Storm Lances die.

Caine kills the remainder of the Doom Reavers whilst killing a heavy with his feat and the rest of the army takes care of another heavy and the remaining infantry, leaving Kozlov 1 Jack and the War Dog.

To try and score APs Keith goes on a Pacman with Kozlov into the Stormblades and kills all but 3, the Juggernaut gets 2 but 1 lives.

I then assassinate Kozlov with the Charger.

Assassination Win

Thoughts:
Keith’s list was unfortunately not built with the Synergy he had in mind working which meant he was in trouble from the start.
Caine2 probably wins the matchup regardless, being able to kill plenty of toys himself easily, unless there are a lot of tough rolls.
The rest of the army can stay safe enough with the predictable threat ranges and the Storm Lances chew through the Doom Reavers as well.

Another short game and I continue to wander about and watch the other games that are ongoing.

My final round I am paired against Fergus who is playing Ret, Issyria and Garryth, both lists have a decent number of infantry and I reckon Caine probably has a decent shot (geddit).

Fergus selects Garryth:
(Garryth 1) Garryth, the Blade of Retribution
 - Banshee
 - Aspis
 - Moros
 - Madelyn Corbeau, Ordic Courtesan
Houseguard Riflemen (max)
 - Houseguard Rifleman Officer & Standard
  - Soulless Escort
Dawnguard Sentinels (max)
 - Dawnguard Sentinel Officer & Standard
 - Soulless Escort
Arcanist Mechanik
Arcanist Mechanik
Narn, Mage Hunter of Ios
Mage Hunter Assassin
Houseguard Thane
House Shyeel Magister

I think the list is right, there might be some discrepancies, I'm not all that familiar with Ret and the pictures I have don’t have enough detail.

I win the roll to go first and elect to do so.

Fergus picks the side with a small forest and obstruction.

I run everything forward, putting concealment and Arcane shield on the Lances and Bullet Dodger on Caine and sit on the hill.

Fergus advances cautiously and take a pot shot at a Lance doing 1 damage. The Sentinels get apparition

I decide that I'm going to try and take out one of his lights.
The Charger and Hunter and Defender do decent Damage to the Aspis and Caine throws out some shots as well finishing the Aspis and starting on Moros, trick shotting into threatening sentinels to avoid vengeance, he then Gatecrashes behind the objective.
One Lance gets a Charge into Moros and does a decent amount of damage. The rest of my models run up and position in the trench.

Moros is able to beat a Lance to death, another dies to a 9 man CRA. A couple of Sentinels charge and do decent Damage to the Hunter and some points on the Charger, the rest run and engage some models.
The Banshee Knocks down the Defender. Garryth moves up behind the objective and Madelyn does her Parley.

I stand the Defender up and realise the Charger is out of Jrs control. I use a number of shots to start clearing the Sentinels that are in the zone and the Lances finish off Moros as well as a number of Riflemen with Impacts and assaults.
Aiyana tries to walk in and kiss the Sentinels but misses, Holt kills two and Jonas gets one.
Caine moves up to the edge of the zone and puts 9 shots into the objective, trick shotting into Garryth each time at dice -4 and he's camping 3.
The dice aren't very good and I miss a shot and the damage doesn't really spike much so I leave him on 4 boxes.
As I've cleared the Sentinels and the Defender took care of Madelyn two Stormblades are able to charge in, the Leader and Officer, they assault and miss but then CMA at MAT 10 needing 7s, get it and squish Garryth.

Assassination Win

Thoughts:
Had I not gone for the Assassination I probably could have just taken the game via attrition, instead using Caine to kill all the remaining infantry.
If It had failed I think Caine was fairly safe where he was as well and Garryth wasn't in a position to do much as he would be on low health.
Of course I could be wrong and an assassination may have been engineered, who knows.

With time running out the tournament had to be finished at 3 rounds, as planned, and I finished somewhere in the middle of the pack.
At least I didn’t get the beautifully handcrafted wooden spoon.

Overall I'm happy with how I played 3 of the 4 games, the Sloan game was a disaster for me and I recognise that.

I'm happy with how both lists performed and I'm looking forward to testing them and more options in the future.

A week to go! Game 60!

This time next week I will be on the way to the WTC! I'm excited.

Got in a few more games, two (three) against Bradigus.
Post nerf this was going to be a tough matchup as you have to be really cagey about the engagement under feat and being counter feated on.

Game 57/100
Haley2 Vs Bradigus
Opponent: Eoin Brennan
Scenario: Two Fronts
Eoin's List:
Bradigus Thorle the Runecarver
* Woldguardian
* Woldwatcher
* Woldwatcher
* Woldwatcher
* Woldwatcher
* Woldwatcher
* Woldwatcher
* Woldwatcher
* Woldwatcher
Shifting Stones

Shifting Stones
Sentry Stone & Mannikins
Sentry Stone & Mannikins

This first game was actually 2 games in one, I was trying to test out time lapse and record it but didn't get the settings quite right so it cuts off, I'd recommend watching it in quarter speed.
You can watch it here:

@10sec Eoin explains how he can just kill me so we hide Haley again and carry on.

I manage to close it out with Harlan spiking and putting lots of damage into Brad and then finish him with a Boosted Handcannon from Jr.

ASSASSINATION WIN/LOSS!

The next day theres a local SR and in round one I get paired up against Eoin again.

Game 58/100
Haley2 Vs Bradigus
Opponent: Eoin Brennan
Scenario: Destruction
List as above.

I try and flank the lances but chose the wrong flank and get slowed down too much by the forest.

Eoin grinds me down and I eventually clock myself, I do dice out an assassination but fall short anyway.

CLOCK LOSS!

The next game is against my most frequent opponent and brother Mike.

Game 59/100
Haley2 Vs Vayl2
Opponent: Mike Porter
Scenario: Recon
Mike's List:
Vayl, Consul of Everblight
* Angelius
* Angelius
* Angelius
* Shredder
* Ravagore
* Ravagore
Blighted Nyss Hex Hunters
Spawning Vessel
Blighted Nyss Shepherd
Blighted Nyss Shepherd

I deploy poorly, and Mike makes some excellent plays to capitalise on that, Icy Gripping the stormblades to lock them down for a turn and then getting a lovely scather onto them.
I start to lose on Scenario and attrition and eventually get killed.

ASSASSINATION LOSS!

My final game of the day is legion again and Lylyth2, I figure Haley is really going to  struggle so I chance my arm with Caine.

Game 60/100
Caine2 Vs Lylyth2
Opponent: Paul Boyling
Scenario: Fire Support
Paul's List:
Lylyth, Shadow of Everblight
* Ravagore
* Ravagore
* Ravagore
* Naga Nightlurker
Strider Rangers
* Strider Rangers Officer & Musician
Strider Rangers
Strider Deathstalker
Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew
Blighted Nyss Shepherd
Blighted Nyss Shepherd

  I move up out of feat range on turn one. Paul advances.

I then run and hide Caine in a trench and push everything else forward, Paul feats and clears a lot of models and sets Caine on fire but no blast damage or direct hits.

1 ranger left alive moves up to mark and then the 2 living gun Mages get shots into Lylyth doing about 6 damage  and a True Shot and reloaded Caine is able to feat and finish her off through 3 transfers.

ASSASSINATION WIN!

Double Vision.

Last weekend there was a fun little Doubles Tournament taking place locally.

I'd already decided on pCaine Tier as one list because it's a bit of fun and ever so slightly filthy.

Lieutenant Allister Caine - WJ: +6
-    Hunter - PC: 6
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 0
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 2
Black 13th Gun Mage Strike Team - Lynch, Ryan & Watts: 3
Tempest Blazers - Leader & 4 Grunts: 10

My Second list was a shrunk down pNemo looking to Arc some chain lightning and use Rowdy with 5 Focus and +2 STR to beat things to death.

Commander Adept Nemo - WJ: +6
-    Squire - PC: 2
-    Lancer - PC: 6
-    Ol' Rowdy - PC: 9
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Tactical Arcanist Corps - Leader & 2 Grunts: 4
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 6
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 2

The format was doubles but with random teammates for each round, meant there was no Strength of Schedule, just fun games and new opponents and partners each round.

Game 1 starts

Round 1
I was paired with a Khador player who bought a filthy B3 list.
We were playing against Minions with Rask and Circle with eMorv

Turn 1
Both armies ran and the Hunter killed one Tharn Ravager, the gun Mages managed to do 6 damage to another.

So many Gun Mages!

Turn 2
Gun Mages get DeathKnelled and 4 die instantly, a few BDIFP die to Charging Ravagers, Rask Feats.
We then Check the Killbox, Rask and Morv are both fully in it from the side, we go up to 4 points.
Butcher 3 can't charge Gators so one of his Argus gets charged in the back, the kills a bunch of stuff and clears the Zone. The Blazers Brutal the objective in the zone and we Dominate for 2 as well as getting 1 for the objective.
The game ends 7-0 on CPs.

Round 2
I am paired with a Legion player who is using eAbby
We are playing against my partner from Round 1, with B3 again and a CoC player with Syntherion.
I opt to bring pNemo to this party as the Legion list has 3 Heavies in in and the lightning should be pretty good against the CoC support, not to mention Voltaic Snare.

Turn 1
Both armies advance up, the Khador opposite one zone and the CoC opposite the other. We opt to commit hard to the CoC zone and hopefully kill the beasts.

Turn 2
Khador get into the Zone with the IFP and the CoC spread a bit, getting a light vector and Arc node into the zone managing to magnetic hold a Warbeast and a Ground Ponder kills a gun mage.
My partner then turns to me and says he reckons he can assassinate Syntherion. So eAbby Feats and kills the Arc Node to confer some rage, Then a Sycthean gets slipstreamed and it charges off into Syntherion.
Syntherion dies, the Convergence force is now 2 units of Optifex directives, all huddled up to Jacks so pNemo now gets to shine.
2 Chain Lightning’s take care of all but one of the models and a Voltaic Snare hits the Khador Devastator, the Gun Mages polish off the last converge model and we Dominate the Zone with Abby for 2.

Turn 3
Butcher comes into the zone with the gun mages and kills them all but 1. A BDIFP manages to make it into the other zone to stop us dominating again.
We attempt to set up a fancy Assassination on Butcher involving a 5 focus Rowdy by clearing a charge lane with the Scythean but Abby needs to confer rage so we get the Lancer to push the Pikeman into her threat but this means we end up blocking the Scythean charge....
So we just kill as many things as possible and the Squire Beep Boops his way into the zone to stop Butcher scoring again we go up to 4 points.

Turn 4
Butcher has to assassinate Nemo and Abby in one turn to win the game, he can't and there aren't enough models that could possibly get into and stay in the zone for us not to clear it, the game gets called and we win 6-4 on CPs

Round 3
My Partner from the previous round betrays me and switches to the Dark side, I gain another Legion ally with Saeryn whilst opponent No.2 is Cygnar with pNemo!

Turn 1
The guys run everything. We advance and try to hit Thorn with a couple of shots. I attempt to spread out the Gun Mages but pNemo is going to fry them

Turn 2
pNemo fries a bunch of Gun Mages.... We manage to kill the enemy Lynch and get a few more points on Thorn.

Turn 3
A lot of things are up in our face but we haven't provided any targets for the Legion player, pNemo fries more Gun Mages :(. My Gun Mages manage to clear two TAC dwarves out of the way, pCaine pops snipe on the Ravagore and it shoots at Nemo, hits and then boots damage, he gets one shot exactly.

Turn 4
There are 4 Cygnar toys left including Jr who can potentially reactivate Jacks. We clear an objective and Dominate the zone, sending a Scythean to hold off the Legion beasts.

Turn 5
eAbyy feats and her beasts smash Saeryn into the ground. pCaine Feats in an attempt to finish things and all the guns are aimed at eAbyy on one transfer but dice aren't great and she doesn't die, thankfully dice down is called and we win 3-0 on CPs

And with that we take first place with a collective 6 wins.

This time next Friday its Gaelcon, I am taking 3 lists, one of which is pCaine Tier 4
This is what I have to paint!

Couple of Casters, Units, Solos and a Colossal

Hopefully, I'll get it all done in time.

Mini Tournament - Game 2

This is the second game following on from my previous report, you can also see my two lists there.

Before kicking off we needed food for winners, I was a winner so I had a finest dessert and a Cherry Coke.
Winners get rewards!

The Second game was against Rob, a Cryx and Menoth player, today was Menoth day. He had eFeora and a pKreoss lists. He picked and I once again rolled for list, Haley was summoned by the dice gods to do some work. Rob had selected eFeora:

Protectorate of Menoth
56 / 56 (50+6) Warcaster(s) : 1/1 Warjack(s) : 3 Battle Engines : 0 Solos : 4 Units : 3
Feora, Protector of the Flame - WJ: +6
- Judicator - PC: 18
- Redeemer - PC: 6
- Vanquisher - PC: 8
Vassal of Menoth - PC: 2
Vassal Mechanik - PC: 1
Wrack - PC: 1
Kell Bailoch - PC: 2
Choir of Menoth - Leader & 3 Grunts: 2
Holy Zealots - Leader and 9 Grunts: 6
- Monolith Bearer - Monolith Bearer 2
Temple Flameguard - Leader and 9 Grunts: 6
- Temple Flameguard Officer & Standard - Temple Flameguard Officer & Standard 2

The Scenario was Close Quarters (Kill Box)

Rob won initiative and opted to deploy/go first. I selected the side of the table that had a huge impassable tower sat in the middle outside of the killbox, the Haley Hidey Hole.

Deployment

Rob deployed with The Judicator opposite his flag the Vanquisher left of that with Feora sandwiched in between the Redeemer on the right. The Choir Vassal and Mechanik were all behind the Jacks. In the centre were the Flameguard and on the far right the Zealots.

I set up the Nyss on the left flank split around the Boomhowlers, the risen made a central front line with the Forge Guard behind. The Gun Mages went on the far right to face off against the Zealots. Haley, Squire, Alexia and the Lancer were behind the building with Rhupert and Jr behind them.

Kell Bailoch gets advance deployed up in a forest on the right in front of the Gun Mages and the Wracks get put down, two on the left and one on the centre/right.

Now with colour arrows

Menoth Turn 1

Both Jacks get a focus and the Judicator gets one for free because of some silly Menoth mechanic that exists that I don’t want to look up right now*. The Zealots Run and sing a prayer for no spells, the Flameguard also run up. Feora activates and casts escort and advances. All three jacks run with their extra speed. Kell Bailoch moves up and toes in the forest managing to kill a Gun Mage.

*it’s a Judicator special rule called Reliquary.

Cygnar Turn 1

The lancer gets a focus and pretty much everything runs. Boomhowlers go to ground and get 4+ tough. Jr puts Arcane Shield on the Forge Guard who’ve run. The Nyss run up the left flank. The Risen run up and spread amongst everything. Haley gives the Gun Mages Deadeye and advances to get closer to her safe LoS blocking building, casting Deceleration. The Gun Mages advance and are within sniping distance of the Zealots so they manage to kill 3 of them, even with the ARM buff they get when one of them dies. Rhupert puts fearless on the Boomhowlers so they don’t get too scared of the Flameguard.

Cygnar Turn 1 end
Menoth Turn 2

Feora upkeeps Escort and gives out a few focus. The Zealots run up and get in the Gun Mages face and use their mini feat that makes them immune to all damage other than feats and spells and then pray for no spell damage. Kell Bailoch advances and manages to kill another Gun Mage. The Flameguard charge in to engage some Boomhowlers and kill a couple. The Choir pray for passage. The Vanquisher advances and takes a shot as does the Judicator and the Redeemer, lots of things are set on fire, the Vassal also uses Ancillary attack on the Judicator as you can imagine this means that there is a lot of time spent rolling deviations for fire templates and damage etc on all my dudes. Feora activates and the timer beeps, there is the option for an extension but its Robs last model, he opts to call it there. I remind him he’s in the Kill Box but he accepts the 2 point loss.

Cygnar Turn 2

Fire, lots of things are on fire, I roll some dice, Rob rolls some dice, things die, Alexia gets lots of tokens. These tokens go on to be lovely fresh Zombies, something in the region of 14 of them. Haley gets a focus from the Squire. She Activates first, shuffles forwards and checks her Control, decides it’s time to feat, and does so. She then puts Deadeye on the Boomhowlers and casts Deceleration again. Jr wanders over and puts Arcane Shield on Haley, I’m worried about fire. The Boomhowlers Assault into the Vanquisher and the Flameguard, with some shots and swings they manage to make a large dent in the Jack and take out a few bodies even through set defense. The Nyss also run with two charging into the Vanquisher and leaving him with crippled arms. Half the Forge Guard can charge into some Flameguard and they do so, leaving only 4 of them left alive and Alexia on another growing pile of tokens. Alexia activates and her Risen advance and swing using some CMAs trying to kill stuff, they fail although they are now tying up some Zealots in melee. Rhupert provides Fearless and Tough for the Boomhowlers again. The Gun Mages try to get LoS on Kell but he’s safe behind immune Zealots and I run out of time, even with my extension, for any fancy push shenanigans.

Cygnar turn 2 end
Menoth (Cygnar) Turn 3

It’s my feat turn so not a lot happens, I force his Jacks to go before they can have choir support, the Redeemer misses a shot, the Vanquisher is swinging on one dice against the DEF 12 Boomhowlers. The Judicator kills lots of stuff, including Junior, and puts even more of it on fire, this does mean that next turn I’m getting more Risen. The count for the Boomhowlers is now pretty low as well as the Forge Guard. A few Gun Mages and Zombies die to Zealots. Feora is out of the feat and is able to escape the Kill Box.

Cygnar Turn 3
Things are still on fire, a huge amount of it dies. I pull one from the Squire. Alexia makes more Risen around the Flameguard and Zealots. The Nyss advance up and shoot 2 Choirmen and the Mekanik. The Risen advance and swing getting a Flameguard dead and a few Zealots through CMAs Alexia makes a Thrall who charges off to smack the Redeemer, he doesn’t do anything. The remaining Boomhowlers advance and swing, Gregor goes to sit on the flag. Haley casts Deceleration again and camps what she has left. Rhupert gives the Fearless and Tough to the Forge Guard. The Lancer Advances and pokes a Flameguard to death. The Gun Mages leave 2 Zealots alive. I’ve gathered a few more souls to make more Risen.

Cygnar turn 3 end
Menoth Turn 4

The Judicator shoots and fires plenty more things but kills most of what it hits, including Gregor. Feora advances up and feats turning 4 fires, from the Forge Guard near her, into focus. The Redeemer charges Jonas and bops him on the head, not after taking a free strike from a Forge Guard which does a bit of damage, Jonas dies, a couple of Boomhowlers also get squashed. The Vanquisher connects and kills another Boomhowler. The Zealots polish off the Gun Mages with the help of Kell. The last Flameguard with a weapon shield walls up with the standard and stabs a Risen.
Cygnar Turn 4

The Squire is empty, there’s 4 Forge Guard on fire, one dies. Alexia creates yet more Zombies. The Nyss Charge into the Judicator and smack it up as much as possible. The Forge Guard are all on fire but they charge Feora anyway, they need 8s to hit and 2 manage to connect but with her camp there isn’t enough damage there. The Zombies charge and do nothing Alexia then sacrifices a bunch of them to kill the Redeemer. The Squire runs towards the Zealots to be close to the flag. Rhupert advances and puts fearless and tough on the Nyss. Haley Decelerates and camps her focus.

Cygnar turn 4 end
Menoth Turn 5

The Zealots go first and bomb some Zombies and then dice down is called.

The aftermath.
My bacon is saved from the cooking it was likely to get from Feora and the Judicator, as I had no way to deal with it. I win the game, because of the earlier Kill Boxing, 2-0. I didn’t know dice down was coming and I was just lucky that I managed to hide for long enough.
