Gaelcon Practice

Just going to run through a 50pt game played on Monday, with 90% painted toys.

I finished off painting Siege Dougal and Gastonne so I wanted to take them for a run about.

The Boys

Here's the list I took for Siege:
55 / 55 (50+5)
Major Markus "Siege" Brisbane - WJ: +5
-    Squire - PC: 2
-    Stormwall - PC: 19
-    Lightning Pod
Journeyman Warcaster - PC: 3
Ogrun Bokur - PC: 3
Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator - PC: 1
Master Gunner Dougal MacNaile - PC: 2
Gastone Crosse - PC: 3
-    Galleon - PC: 18
Tactical Arcanist Corps - Leader & 2 Grunts: 4

The idea behind this list is very simple; I get to play with two massive robots!

Siege and the Stormwall go hand in hand, plenty of high power shooting to leverage the feat and nice area denial if required.
Reinholdt tags along for that extra shot on the Rocket Launcher.

Gastonne and Galleon mean that I have a fully fueled Colossal to shoot and hit things, Dougal makes the AoEs even better with the RAT boost and deviation fixings.
Using Fire Group and Dougals Mini Feat means an effective snipe on the Harpoon, 19" threat with Boostable hits.

Junior is there because of Arcane Shield
The Bokur makes sure critical ranged attacks can be soaked
The TAC are there to provide a wall of smoke or under feat run sling some AoEs or even BATTLE WIZARD!

I was playing against my most regular of opponents, my brother he was of course playing Legion with the following list:
55 / 55 (50+5)
Lylyth, Shadow of Everblight - WB: +5
-    Succubus
-    Ravagore - PC: 10
-    Ravagore - PC: 10
-    Ravagore - PC: 10
-    Naga Nightlurker - PC: 5
Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1
Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1
Fyanna the Lash - PC: 3
Strider Deathstalker - PC: 2
Strider Deathstalker - PC: 2
Strider Rangers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 6
-    Strider Rangers Officer & Musician - Blighted Nyss Strider Officer & Musician 3

There is a lot of shooting.

I win the roll off and as I want to deny the forest and hill I pick sides.

Deployment
I put the Galleon on the right, Stormwall on the left, TAC centrally, behind them Siege, Bokur, Squire, Reinholdt, Jr, Gastonne and Dougal.

Legion deploy with 3 Ravagores opposite the Galleon and Lylyth Succubus and Naga next to them, Shepherds behind, Fyanna on the far left.
AD'd Strider Deathstalkers on my right, Striders AD'd on the centre left.

Deployment
Legion Turn 1
Shadow Pack goes up from Lylyth and everything runs into position.

Cygnar Turn 1
The dwarves move up and try and drift AoEs onto Striders, Dougal Artillerists the Galleon, that moves up and B2B with the dwarves, manages to drift an AoE onto a Strider.

>> This brings up an interesting point about the Minimum distance for AoEs and certain base sizes. An AoE 3 misses any size base, excluding Huge, on a distance of 3+.
Here's a useful Table I'm going to print out for Games with the Galleon.

The Stormwall Wanders up in B2B with the other end of the TAC line and pods another Strider and puts down covering fire.
Jr. puts Arcane Shield on Siege and everyone else advances.

Legion Turn 2
Lylth upkeeps Shadow Pack and then casts Pincushion on the Stormwall and feats. The Deasthstalkers manage to kill one for the dwarves.
Each of the Ravagores goes, the first one hits siege and the Bokur, doing no damage but setting them on fire. The other five shots land on the Stormwall.
The Striders and the Naga also shoot the Stormwall, it ends on one Box on it's left side with no movement, Cortex or Pod system oh and it's on fire

Cygnar Turn 2
The fire goes out on the Stormwall, Siege and the Bokur take no damage. The Galleon gets 3 focus, the Stormwall none, because it can't have any.
The Stormwall walks up and manages to use its unbroken cannon to damage the Naga and put a few points on the Objective.
Dougal Artillerists the Galleon which then advances drifting AoEs onto the Striders and kills both DeathStalkers.
Siege GroundPounds some more damage onto the Naga and kills a Strider and puts down a foxhole to hide in, the Striders flee.
The assorted support pieces mill around.

Legion Turn 3
Shadow Pack is upkept.
Fyanna charges and gets the last box on the Stormwall, its wrecked now.
Lylyth pincushions the Galleon.
The Naga Charges and kills a dwarf, causing them to flee.
The three Ravagores shoot the Galleon and start to put points on it.

>> It's around this point I accidentally pick up the Bokur with the loop on my tape  and break him into three pieces, he becomes a wreck marker for the rest of the game and the tape has its loop removed.

Cygnar Turn 3
Siege drops Foxhole and keeps his focus.
Gastonne advances and Shoots Fyanna to death
Siege walks into the wreck of the Stormwall and GroundPounds a Shepherd and Stalker to death.
The Bokur charges the Naga and misses with his spear but finishes it off with his shield.
Dougal Artillerists the Galleon which then advances slings out some AoEs at things including the last Strider.
The dwarves rallied

Legion Turn 4
Lylyth upkeeps Pincushion and Shadow Pack.
The Ravagores shoot the Galleon again.
Lylyth gets rid of the Stompod but opts not to kill the remaining dwarf.

Cygnar Turn 4
The last dwarf is rallied and throws and AoE at Lylyth which misses and doesn't scatter well.
Reinholdt reloads Siege and he Mage Sights onto Lylyth with the aiming bonus he hits with the first rocket but doesn't do enough damage and she has a transfer left so he shoots again and feats on the damage that gets transferred.
Dougal Artillerists the Galleon which then advances slings out some AoEs and Harpoons the Objective destroying it and Controlling the zone.
The now empty Squire runs towards my objective.
I score 2 CPs

Legion Turn 5
A Ravagore charges and kills the Galleon.
One shoots Siege which drifts and kills Reinholdt.
Lylth kills the last dwarf and stake some pot shots on the objective, just as its about to die the squire takes one for the team per the scenario and keeps it alive, a Ravagore finishes it off.
Mike scores 2 CPs

Cygnar Turn 5
Dougal walks into the Zone and Galleon wreck to contest and shoots at a Ravagore.
Siege, Junior and Gastonne, in the Stormwalls wreck also shoot at the same one killing it.

Legion Turn 6
Jr Gets shot by Lylth and a Ravagore headbutts Siege but can't seal the deal.
The other one advances to threaten him.
Mike scores another CP

Cygnar Turn 6
Gastonne shoots the Ravagore that knocked Siege down.
Then Siege stands up and hammers it to death.
Mike goes up to 4 CPs

Legion Turn 7
Mike scores and I lose.

So, 3 Ravagores can pretty much 1 round a Stormwall under Lylyths feat, I think had I used Arcane Shield on it then Siege would be dead.
Stealth is a real issue for Galleon with highish ARM models.

I spent my first couple of turns having to worry about the accurate solo killers which meant I couldn't be that aggressive and my ranged threat on the Galleon (walk 5 shoot 5 because of Stealth) meant I was always at the mercy of the Ravagores.
Perhaps I should have been more aggressive with the Wall and Siege and got up into the Zone to threaten a bit better instead of hanging back, I didn't really get to use my feat.

Overall it was a great close game and it came down to about 4 toys.

Double Vision.

Last weekend there was a fun little Doubles Tournament taking place locally.

I'd already decided on pCaine Tier as one list because it's a bit of fun and ever so slightly filthy.

Lieutenant Allister Caine - WJ: +6
-    Hunter - PC: 6
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 0
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 2
Black 13th Gun Mage Strike Team - Lynch, Ryan & Watts: 3
Tempest Blazers - Leader & 4 Grunts: 10

My Second list was a shrunk down pNemo looking to Arc some chain lightning and use Rowdy with 5 Focus and +2 STR to beat things to death.

Commander Adept Nemo - WJ: +6
-    Squire - PC: 2
-    Lancer - PC: 6
-    Ol' Rowdy - PC: 9
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Tactical Arcanist Corps - Leader & 2 Grunts: 4
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 6
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 2

The format was doubles but with random teammates for each round, meant there was no Strength of Schedule, just fun games and new opponents and partners each round.

Game 1 starts

Round 1
I was paired with a Khador player who bought a filthy B3 list.
We were playing against Minions with Rask and Circle with eMorv

Turn 1
Both armies ran and the Hunter killed one Tharn Ravager, the gun Mages managed to do 6 damage to another.

So many Gun Mages!

Turn 2
Gun Mages get DeathKnelled and 4 die instantly, a few BDIFP die to Charging Ravagers, Rask Feats.
We then Check the Killbox, Rask and Morv are both fully in it from the side, we go up to 4 points.
Butcher 3 can't charge Gators so one of his Argus gets charged in the back, the kills a bunch of stuff and clears the Zone. The Blazers Brutal the objective in the zone and we Dominate for 2 as well as getting 1 for the objective.
The game ends 7-0 on CPs.

Round 2
I am paired with a Legion player who is using eAbby
We are playing against my partner from Round 1, with B3 again and a CoC player with Syntherion.
I opt to bring pNemo to this party as the Legion list has 3 Heavies in in and the lightning should be pretty good against the CoC support, not to mention Voltaic Snare.

Turn 1
Both armies advance up, the Khador opposite one zone and the CoC opposite the other. We opt to commit hard to the CoC zone and hopefully kill the beasts.

Turn 2
Khador get into the Zone with the IFP and the CoC spread a bit, getting a light vector and Arc node into the zone managing to magnetic hold a Warbeast and a Ground Ponder kills a gun mage.
My partner then turns to me and says he reckons he can assassinate Syntherion. So eAbby Feats and kills the Arc Node to confer some rage, Then a Sycthean gets slipstreamed and it charges off into Syntherion.
Syntherion dies, the Convergence force is now 2 units of Optifex directives, all huddled up to Jacks so pNemo now gets to shine.
2 Chain Lightning’s take care of all but one of the models and a Voltaic Snare hits the Khador Devastator, the Gun Mages polish off the last converge model and we Dominate the Zone with Abby for 2.

Turn 3
Butcher comes into the zone with the gun mages and kills them all but 1. A BDIFP manages to make it into the other zone to stop us dominating again.
We attempt to set up a fancy Assassination on Butcher involving a 5 focus Rowdy by clearing a charge lane with the Scythean but Abby needs to confer rage so we get the Lancer to push the Pikeman into her threat but this means we end up blocking the Scythean charge....
So we just kill as many things as possible and the Squire Beep Boops his way into the zone to stop Butcher scoring again we go up to 4 points.

Turn 4
Butcher has to assassinate Nemo and Abby in one turn to win the game, he can't and there aren't enough models that could possibly get into and stay in the zone for us not to clear it, the game gets called and we win 6-4 on CPs

Round 3
My Partner from the previous round betrays me and switches to the Dark side, I gain another Legion ally with Saeryn whilst opponent No.2 is Cygnar with pNemo!

Turn 1
The guys run everything. We advance and try to hit Thorn with a couple of shots. I attempt to spread out the Gun Mages but pNemo is going to fry them

Turn 2
pNemo fries a bunch of Gun Mages.... We manage to kill the enemy Lynch and get a few more points on Thorn.

Turn 3
A lot of things are up in our face but we haven't provided any targets for the Legion player, pNemo fries more Gun Mages :(. My Gun Mages manage to clear two TAC dwarves out of the way, pCaine pops snipe on the Ravagore and it shoots at Nemo, hits and then boots damage, he gets one shot exactly.

Turn 4
There are 4 Cygnar toys left including Jr who can potentially reactivate Jacks. We clear an objective and Dominate the zone, sending a Scythean to hold off the Legion beasts.

Turn 5
eAbyy feats and her beasts smash Saeryn into the ground. pCaine Feats in an attempt to finish things and all the guns are aimed at eAbyy on one transfer but dice aren't great and she doesn't die, thankfully dice down is called and we win 3-0 on CPs

And with that we take first place with a collective 6 wins.

This time next Friday its Gaelcon, I am taking 3 lists, one of which is pCaine Tier 4
This is what I have to paint!

Couple of Casters, Units, Solos and a Colossal

Hopefully, I'll get it all done in time.

It's been 223 days.

It's been 223 days since this blog was updated...

I have been more than lax, no updates have occurred and I even left out the last update not finishing the tournament report.
I lost the last game and came 2nd overall.

So now I'm back with a serious intent to do some more reporting on my hobby activities.

This has been spurred along by the conclusion of the WTC just last weekend and the fact it's going to be in Ireland next year.

I am still debating whether I'd like to try out to be on a team but that is a long way off, all I know is that I want to play more games and be more active playing.

I have a few upcoming events as well.
This Sunday the 12th of October there is a little 25pt doubles tournament.
On the 24th-27th of October Gaelcon  is taking place in Dublin with a 50pt Iron Gauntlet followed by Spell draft or maybe X-Wing/Star Trek.
February the 20th-22nd is Smogcon in England, PPs first full European convention.

So on Monday I got two games in at 25 Points against my Brother using slightly silly lists for 25 Points.

pCaine, who I picked up recently, and Sloan.

THEME: Sons of the Tempest - Tier 2
31 / 31 (25+6)
Lieutenant Allister Caine - WJ: +6
-    Hunter - PC: 6
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 0
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 2
Black 13th Gun Mage Strike Team - Lynch, Ryan & Watts: 3
Tempest Blazers - Leader & 4 Grunts: 10

It gives me a point off each unit of Gun Mages and the B13 as well as a free Dude, basically 5 free points. Any sort of high ARM makes this list shudder in fear but its got great control and can really deal with infantry.

31 / 31 (25+6)
Captain Kara Sloan - WJ: +6
-    Squire
-    Avenger - PC: 9
-    Charger - PC: 4
-    Defender - PC: 9
Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator - PC: 1
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Rangers - Leader & Grunts: 5

Sloan is just about having a Battlegroup with guns, shooting stuff with the rangers helping and making the most of the feat turn and Fire Group.

I won with pCaine against a pAbby list with a Ravagore, Angel, full Striders and the Pot, I was able to kill all the small things and used deadeyed gun Mages to take Abby down.

That's some amount of dudes for 25pts

Kara was up against eLylyth with a Ravagore, Striders, Annyssa, Strider Deathstalker and another beast I forget.
Everything had Stealth in the army and I couldn't leverage anything against his stuff and even though I was able to attrition it okay towards the end Kara ended up dead.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I invited over Local Meta Stomper and all round bad boy of Warmachine Pat 'Pat' Dunford.
Fresh from his adventures at the WTC he was looking to play MORE games, a lot of commitment from him.

As I was feeling Saucy I thought I'd have a go at pCaine but at 50pts Tier 4, my list was:
THEME: Sons of the Tempest - Tier 4
56 / 56 (50+6)
Lieutenant Allister Caine - WJ: +6
-    Stormwall - PC: 19
-    Lightning Pod
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 0
-    Hunter - PC: 6
Black 13th Gun Mage Strike Team - Lynch, Ryan & Watts: 3
Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Pistoleers - Leader & 5 Grunts: 5
-    Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 2
-    Hunter - PC: 6
Tempest Blazers - Leader & 4 Grunts: 10

Tier Benefits:
1: Non-character Arcane Tempest Gun Mage units become FA U. Reduce the point cost of each Arcane Tempest Gun Mage unit by 1.
2: Add a unit attachment to one Arcane Tempest Gun Mage unit free of cost. This attachment ignores FA restrictions.
3: You gain +1 on your starting game roll.
4: Caine and Arcane Tempest models/units gain Stealth during the first round of the game.

This list takes the Tier and pops in some anti Armour Threats with the Hunters and the Stormwall to give that extra power.
Snipe is great on the Blazers and the Stormwall and all of the Gun Mage Units love to get Deadeye.
Caines range amplifier means that he can hang out at the back but still buff effectively and if necessary move up aggressively and teleport back.
Deadeyed Boosted Thunderbolts from hunters have a 72% or so chance of knocking something down. RAT 7 RNG 14 really helps, not to mention, armour piercing for heavies that it completely out threats and can be pushed about by the Gun Mages.

Pat was playing pNemo, one of my favourite Cygnar casters and he's totally becoming a thing, we are skewing the Cygnar Meta.

Commander Adept Nemo - WJ: +6
-    Squire
-    Stormwall - PC: 19
-    Lightning Pod
-    Thorn - PC: 8
Journeyman Warcaster - PC: 3
Captain Arlan Strangewayes - PC: 2
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Stormsmith Stormcaller - PC: 1
Greygore Boomhowler & Co. - Boomhowler and 9 Grunts: 9
Tactical Arcanist Corps - Leader & 2 Grunts: 4
Tempest Blazers - Leader & 2 Grunts: 6

So Voltaic snare is pretty broken but hilariously fun, also it turns out Gun Mages REALLY hate chain lightning.
I did get to weapon lock his Stormwall with mine which was fun, but I really made a poor positioning mistake and badly judged ranges.
The End game came down to not much but I had nothing to take care of his Wall and it eventually pushed Caine into the ground.
The Blazers did spend the Game runnig around the flank and killing things, the B13 are bosses and the Gun Mage Units really are good.
Overall it was an enjoyable game I felt I might have been a bit too aggressive with the Hunters, AD isn't always required, but also dealing with Chain Lightning is pretty difficult.

It's a Stormwall off.

So here ends the first in what I hope will be many more chronicling my Cygnaran exploits.

Oh I also finished pHaley on Monday, she is painted, yet to be played...

Mini Tournament - Game 2

This is the second game following on from my previous report, you can also see my two lists there.

Before kicking off we needed food for winners, I was a winner so I had a finest dessert and a Cherry Coke.
Winners get rewards!

The Second game was against Rob, a Cryx and Menoth player, today was Menoth day. He had eFeora and a pKreoss lists. He picked and I once again rolled for list, Haley was summoned by the dice gods to do some work. Rob had selected eFeora:

Protectorate of Menoth
56 / 56 (50+6) Warcaster(s) : 1/1 Warjack(s) : 3 Battle Engines : 0 Solos : 4 Units : 3
Feora, Protector of the Flame - WJ: +6
- Judicator - PC: 18
- Redeemer - PC: 6
- Vanquisher - PC: 8
Vassal of Menoth - PC: 2
Vassal Mechanik - PC: 1
Wrack - PC: 1
Kell Bailoch - PC: 2
Choir of Menoth - Leader & 3 Grunts: 2
Holy Zealots - Leader and 9 Grunts: 6
- Monolith Bearer - Monolith Bearer 2
Temple Flameguard - Leader and 9 Grunts: 6
- Temple Flameguard Officer & Standard - Temple Flameguard Officer & Standard 2

The Scenario was Close Quarters (Kill Box)

Rob won initiative and opted to deploy/go first. I selected the side of the table that had a huge impassable tower sat in the middle outside of the killbox, the Haley Hidey Hole.

Deployment

Rob deployed with The Judicator opposite his flag the Vanquisher left of that with Feora sandwiched in between the Redeemer on the right. The Choir Vassal and Mechanik were all behind the Jacks. In the centre were the Flameguard and on the far right the Zealots.

I set up the Nyss on the left flank split around the Boomhowlers, the risen made a central front line with the Forge Guard behind. The Gun Mages went on the far right to face off against the Zealots. Haley, Squire, Alexia and the Lancer were behind the building with Rhupert and Jr behind them.

Kell Bailoch gets advance deployed up in a forest on the right in front of the Gun Mages and the Wracks get put down, two on the left and one on the centre/right.

Now with colour arrows

Menoth Turn 1

Both Jacks get a focus and the Judicator gets one for free because of some silly Menoth mechanic that exists that I don’t want to look up right now*. The Zealots Run and sing a prayer for no spells, the Flameguard also run up. Feora activates and casts escort and advances. All three jacks run with their extra speed. Kell Bailoch moves up and toes in the forest managing to kill a Gun Mage.

*it’s a Judicator special rule called Reliquary.

Cygnar Turn 1

The lancer gets a focus and pretty much everything runs. Boomhowlers go to ground and get 4+ tough. Jr puts Arcane Shield on the Forge Guard who’ve run. The Nyss run up the left flank. The Risen run up and spread amongst everything. Haley gives the Gun Mages Deadeye and advances to get closer to her safe LoS blocking building, casting Deceleration. The Gun Mages advance and are within sniping distance of the Zealots so they manage to kill 3 of them, even with the ARM buff they get when one of them dies. Rhupert puts fearless on the Boomhowlers so they don’t get too scared of the Flameguard.

Cygnar Turn 1 end
Menoth Turn 2

Feora upkeeps Escort and gives out a few focus. The Zealots run up and get in the Gun Mages face and use their mini feat that makes them immune to all damage other than feats and spells and then pray for no spell damage. Kell Bailoch advances and manages to kill another Gun Mage. The Flameguard charge in to engage some Boomhowlers and kill a couple. The Choir pray for passage. The Vanquisher advances and takes a shot as does the Judicator and the Redeemer, lots of things are set on fire, the Vassal also uses Ancillary attack on the Judicator as you can imagine this means that there is a lot of time spent rolling deviations for fire templates and damage etc on all my dudes. Feora activates and the timer beeps, there is the option for an extension but its Robs last model, he opts to call it there. I remind him he’s in the Kill Box but he accepts the 2 point loss.

Cygnar Turn 2

Fire, lots of things are on fire, I roll some dice, Rob rolls some dice, things die, Alexia gets lots of tokens. These tokens go on to be lovely fresh Zombies, something in the region of 14 of them. Haley gets a focus from the Squire. She Activates first, shuffles forwards and checks her Control, decides it’s time to feat, and does so. She then puts Deadeye on the Boomhowlers and casts Deceleration again. Jr wanders over and puts Arcane Shield on Haley, I’m worried about fire. The Boomhowlers Assault into the Vanquisher and the Flameguard, with some shots and swings they manage to make a large dent in the Jack and take out a few bodies even through set defense. The Nyss also run with two charging into the Vanquisher and leaving him with crippled arms. Half the Forge Guard can charge into some Flameguard and they do so, leaving only 4 of them left alive and Alexia on another growing pile of tokens. Alexia activates and her Risen advance and swing using some CMAs trying to kill stuff, they fail although they are now tying up some Zealots in melee. Rhupert provides Fearless and Tough for the Boomhowlers again. The Gun Mages try to get LoS on Kell but he’s safe behind immune Zealots and I run out of time, even with my extension, for any fancy push shenanigans.

Cygnar turn 2 end
Menoth (Cygnar) Turn 3

It’s my feat turn so not a lot happens, I force his Jacks to go before they can have choir support, the Redeemer misses a shot, the Vanquisher is swinging on one dice against the DEF 12 Boomhowlers. The Judicator kills lots of stuff, including Junior, and puts even more of it on fire, this does mean that next turn I’m getting more Risen. The count for the Boomhowlers is now pretty low as well as the Forge Guard. A few Gun Mages and Zombies die to Zealots. Feora is out of the feat and is able to escape the Kill Box.

Cygnar Turn 3
Things are still on fire, a huge amount of it dies. I pull one from the Squire. Alexia makes more Risen around the Flameguard and Zealots. The Nyss advance up and shoot 2 Choirmen and the Mekanik. The Risen advance and swing getting a Flameguard dead and a few Zealots through CMAs Alexia makes a Thrall who charges off to smack the Redeemer, he doesn’t do anything. The remaining Boomhowlers advance and swing, Gregor goes to sit on the flag. Haley casts Deceleration again and camps what she has left. Rhupert gives the Fearless and Tough to the Forge Guard. The Lancer Advances and pokes a Flameguard to death. The Gun Mages leave 2 Zealots alive. I’ve gathered a few more souls to make more Risen.

Cygnar turn 3 end
Menoth Turn 4

The Judicator shoots and fires plenty more things but kills most of what it hits, including Gregor. Feora advances up and feats turning 4 fires, from the Forge Guard near her, into focus. The Redeemer charges Jonas and bops him on the head, not after taking a free strike from a Forge Guard which does a bit of damage, Jonas dies, a couple of Boomhowlers also get squashed. The Vanquisher connects and kills another Boomhowler. The Zealots polish off the Gun Mages with the help of Kell. The last Flameguard with a weapon shield walls up with the standard and stabs a Risen.
Cygnar Turn 4

The Squire is empty, there’s 4 Forge Guard on fire, one dies. Alexia creates yet more Zombies. The Nyss Charge into the Judicator and smack it up as much as possible. The Forge Guard are all on fire but they charge Feora anyway, they need 8s to hit and 2 manage to connect but with her camp there isn’t enough damage there. The Zombies charge and do nothing Alexia then sacrifices a bunch of them to kill the Redeemer. The Squire runs towards the Zealots to be close to the flag. Rhupert advances and puts fearless and tough on the Nyss. Haley Decelerates and camps her focus.

Cygnar turn 4 end
Menoth Turn 5

The Zealots go first and bomb some Zombies and then dice down is called.

The aftermath.
My bacon is saved from the cooking it was likely to get from Feora and the Judicator, as I had no way to deal with it. I win the game, because of the earlier Kill Boxing, 2-0. I didn’t know dice down was coming and I was just lucky that I managed to hide for long enough.

It’s time for dinner, time to visit Corks finest chicken establishment, the Chicken of John, John’s Chicken. http://cork.ratemyarea.com/places/john-grace-s-fried-ch-110388#show_reviews you should check out Luke E and his honest review.

On with the show!

As I mentioned before I am starting off the blog again and getting started with a tournament that happened on Sunday the 16th of Feb. It was a simple 50pt SR2014 with 12 players. The tournament was in the local shop round the corner and was just going to be three games.

I decided that I'd take along a couple of silly lists using the toys I had floating about. This first list came to me in a dream and was handed down by Cygnar Jesus or I'm just losing my mind.

Cygnar - I'm on a horse
56 / 56 (50+6)
Captain Jeremiah Kraye - WJ: +6
- Squire
- Ol' Rowdy - PC: 9
- Ironclad - PC: 7
- Ironclad - PC: 7
- Ironclad - PC: 7
- Centurion - PC: 9
- Centurion - PC: 9
Tempest Blazers - Leader & 2 Grunts: 6

Your friendly Neeeighbourhood Battlegroup

Thematically its horses, the caster is on a horse, the jacks are horses, the Blazers are horses and the squire just wants to be a horse secretly. So now that I have a list with ALL the Warjacks in, what would be the perfect complement? Well, all the dudes:

Cygnar - eHaley Dude Spam
55 / 55 (50+5)
Major Victoria Haley - WJ: +5
- Squire
- Lancer - PC: 6
Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord - PC: 2
Journeyman Warcaster - PC: 3
Alexia Ciannor & the Risen - Alexia & 9 Risen Grunts: 5
Greygore Boomhowler & Co. - Boomhowler and 9 Grunts: 9
- Captain Jonas Murdoch - Murdoch 2
Horgenhold Forge Guard - Leader & 9 Grunts: 8
Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters - Cylena & 9 Grunts: 10
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages - Leader & 5 Grunts: 6
- Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer - Officer 2

And here are all the dudes that I could afford based on the models I own or was able to beg/borrow/steal.

Neither of them are particularly sensible really Kraye doesn't have the focus to run that many Jacks and Haley is actually pretty good on her own so perhaps it isn't that foolish.

So my first game was drawn and it was against Paul Boyling one of our Local Press Gangers, he was playing Legion of Everblight. He selected his list and I then rolled for mine, the dice gods gave me eHaley and the dudes.

He had the following list:

Legion of Everblight
55 / 55 (50+5)
Lylyth, Shadow of Everblight - WB: +5
- Ravagore - PC: 10
- Ravagore - PC: 10
- Naga Nightlurker - PC: 5
- Angelius - PC: 9
Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1
Blighted Nyss Shepherd - PC: 1
Strider Deathstalker - PC: 2
Strider Deathstalker - PC: 2
Blighted Nyss Striders - Leader & 5 Grunts: 6
Blighted Nyss Striders - Leader & 5 Grunts: 6
- Blighted Nyss Strider Officer & Musician - Blighted Nyss Strider Officer & Musician 3

The Scenario was Outflank

Paul won the roll and after short discussion we decided it would be better for him to go 1st against eHaley. He deployed with his two Ravagores front and centre, Shepherds behind them, Lylyth, Angelius and the Naga off to my left.

Having not played with this list before, but having a rough idea of the meat of it, I stuck the Boomies up front with the Forge Guard behind them and the risen behind them. Gun Mages and the Lancer took the left flank eyeing up the hill and wall to keep them safe and to threaten Lylyth. The Nyss went on the right in a forest ready to pathfinder it up and hopefully jam the zone. The Support Staff spread out behind all of this.

Strider units and Solos got AD'd a Deathstalker each side and a unit each side, the one with the UA to the right.

Deployment/Legion turn 1

Then it was time to game on.

Legion Turn 1

Ravagores and Angelius ran up Shepherds behind them, Lylyth cast Shadow Pack and moved up behind the wall with the Naga in tow, Striders and Deathstalkers all advanced and looked menacing.

Cygnar Turn 1

The Lancer got a focus and ran into the zone, I was thinking of throwing a time bomb at the Striders on the hill. The Boomhowlers got 4+ tough, ran up and went to ground thanks to Jonas. The Nyss Ran up to get inside the Zone and one engaged the Deathstalker. Jr slung Arcane shield on the Forge guard and walked up, the Forge Guard Ran. Haley Gave Deadeye to the Gun Mages, popped Deceleration and advanced up. The risen ran, Alexia staying central with three zombies forming a wall a bit away from Haley, Squire hung about at the back . The Gun Mages advanced to hide behind the wall and with Deadeye managed to nail down 4 Striders causing them to flee. Rhupert piped +1 DEF and terror for them as well as he shuffled up.

End of my turn 1
Legion Turn 2

The fleeing Striders rally and don't move. The Deathstalker on the left moves up but fails to hit the DEF 18 Gun Mages. The Angelius charges up and lays waste to the Lancer. The Striders on the right pop shots at the Nyss but they are DEF 17 and only a couple die even with aiming bonuses. The Naga aniumses Lylyth and she trots up and shoots two Boomhowlers who tough it out, she feats. Both Ravagores start spitting at Haley, thankfully a combination of Deceleration LoS and positioning means that only risen can be target and a couple of shots go wide and two connect, Haley takes 1 point of Damage and is on fire, a couple of risen die as do a couple of Forge Guard Rhupert also takes a shot to the face and goes down. The Shepherds move up and medicate both Ravagores.

Cygnar Turn 2

With the Lancer gone and Haley stood in some AoEs she keeps her focus, not before taking a few points of damage from fire, she's lost 4 boxes. One gets pulled from the squire and away we go. Alexia drops off a few former Forgeguard and the formerly mighty Rhupert as zombies. Haley activates and scuttles out of the AoE she’s in and moves up to make sure everything is in her control. Then gives Deadeye to both the Gun Mages and Boomhowlers and then pops her feat. The Boomhowlers shout to stand up and receive an Assault order. 3 go into the Angelius, 4 into the closest Ravagore and two run up with Gregor and Jonas following along. Assault Shots and Melee swings manage to inflict some damage on the Ravagore and I think there was one hit on the Angelius. The Nyss advance up and engage/shoot more Striders and generally fail to make an impact. The Gun Mages stay still for the aiming bonus and with deadeye clear out the remaining striders and Deathstalker on the left. The Forgeguard Run up to get into more aggressive positions after the Feat turn. Alexia Moves up and so do the Zombies to generally get in the way, she spawns a Thrall that charges into a Shepherd and misses. Jr Moves up and Arcane shields Haley

Legion getting to enjoy Haleys feat turn.

Legion (Cygnar) Turn 3

I force the Shepherds to go 1st; one medicates the damaged Ravagore, the other stays still. The Striders take some pot shots and swings at the Nyss but are unable to beat their DEF15, they do manage to kill a couple of Zombies. The Ravagores go, one spits at Haley but misses and deviates onto Jr, and she lives. The other one swings at the Boomhowlers engaging it and puts them in the dirt. The Angelius manages to kill the 3 Boomhowlers engaging it although it takes all its fury do do so with tough rolls. Lylyth moves to toe onto the hill and casts pursuit on the Gun Mages it. The Naga advances onto the hill.

Cygnar Turn 3

Haley takes no damage from fire thanks to Arcane Shield and poor dice, Jr upkeeps. One gets pulled from the squire and Alexia creates a few new risen bodies, most of them stood in front of the other Ravagore. The risen Run/Charge getting engaged with the left Ravagore and the Angelius. Alexia Charges into the right Ravagore, the risen attack and don’t do much then Alexia finishes off the Ravagore by sacrificing a bunch of her Zombies. The Boomhowlers advance and get a Shepherd killed as well as CMAing a Strider down. The Forgeguard on the left charge the Angelius killing it and the ones in the middle run up to threaten the other Ravagore. The Thrall Warrior finishes the Shepherd he’s engaged with. Haley Deadeyes the Gun Mages and moves up to toe the zone and pops Deceleration. I activate the Gun Mages but time is running low and I only manage to get a few shots into the Naga.

Legion turn 4

Legion Turn 4

The Striders and Nyss continue to slap at each other with little effect, the Ravagore remaining munches on some Zombies. The Naga blesses Lylyth. She advances and shoots at Haley twice, boosting hit and damage, Haley is only at ARM 19 with her camp and she takes enough damage to put her onto 1 box. Continuous fire is still on here and Paul has nothing left.

Cygnar Turn 4

I roll for fire on Haley, I roll a 1, and it goes out. Being that Lylyth is now exposed with no transfers I Deadeye the Gun Mages and Haley shoots her Handcannon, misses, shoots a couple of Arcane Bolts and fails to do much damage. The Gun Mages need the dude to move for all of them to have LoS to Lylyth so he shuffles sideways. Then using the aiming bonus and Deadeye they fill Lylyth full of arcane bullets for the assassination.

A Shift in Direction.

It's been an age, the last time I posted I was going to NWG with Space Wolves. NWG was fun, I didn't get everything painted as I originally wanted I was also rather unwell and that part was unpleasant, surprisingly drink was not responsible.

That was my last big 40k event and since then I haven’t really been doing much 40k, instead I’ve been spending plenty of time on Warmachine and my faction Cygnar (I can’t believe it’s not mercs).
The blog has been renamed as it’ll probably cover all facets of my ‘hobby’ activities but mainly with a shift towards Warmachine as that’s my main focus now.

2 and a bit weeks ago (25th and 26th of Jan) Warpcon took place in Cork again and I was attending for the 3rd time. This year however I played Warmachine, more on this tournament in the future.

But anyway, the blog is changing and I’m hoping to update it more regularly with stuff, both playing and painting.

LOL (Lots of Love)
