More games, Draginz.

Continuing on with the Battle reports this week.

I played a couple of games against my brother and fellow Team Ceol member.

I wanted to see what all the hype was about with Caine2 so I took him out for a spin:

I won the roll to go first and elected to do so.

Caine gets heightened reflexes and hides behind a rock.

I pushed stuff up and screened the Stormblades with the Lances as best I could to avoid them just dying to Deathstalkers.

The Lances got Arcane shield and the hunter moved up behind a central wall.

The Charger and Eyriss hide behind the forest on the right, ready to move out and strike.

  

Mike took some shots, discovering the Scouts no longer have CRA, and put a little bit of damage into the hunter.

The Lances push into the Zone killing some Striders, Caine gets a couple of other models and the Defender and Hunter shoot the Ravagore.

Lylyth feats and is able to go to town on the toys, over the Turn all the lances are made stationary, the hunter dies to the Angel and the charger get shoves out of the zone by the Bolt Thrower.

Mike Scores 1 CP

I have 3 Stormblades left and a unit of frozen Lances with an Angelius stood behind a wall just in front of me.

I put a few shots and then charge it with the Stormblades who manage to finish it off, Caine is able to kill a couple more enemy infantry.

 All but 2 of the Lances die and the Stormblades get finished off.

The Charger also bites the dust.

Mike goes up to 2 CPs

I am able to remove the Ravagore and Bolt thrower with my combined shots; the remaining Storm Lances kill the last couple of Striders.

I Dominate for 2 CPs

Mike is able to shift the remaining Lances with Typhon and Lylyth tramples over to the other zone, shoots Eyriss and repositions to score 3 and win on CPs.

Scenario Loss.

Thoughts:

I probably should have kept the Storm Lance screen up longer to protect the Blades from just dying to stuff.

Caine probably should have done more, I was very cagey with him and I don't think that much actually threatened him that well, he probably could have killed the Bolt thrower a turn earlier and leveraged himself better.

The Defender seemed lacklustre but I still have to practice.

A&H spent the whole game scared of all the Eyeless sight, squishy things that rely on stealth tend to have real problems against Legion so this probably needs more testing against other factions.

Eyriss didn’t do much but she did project threat quite well and I’m happy with that.

Lylyth3's feat is incredible against infantry like Storm Lances and she’s a tough nut to crack with Caine as well, 15/16 or 15/18 is tough and factor in a hill that becomes 17/18 and will be hard to shift.

My next game was against Rhyas, I pulled out a Haley 3 list that was in my War Room, not sure where it came from and it probably needs to be scrapped!

I won the roll again and opted to go first, setting up the cloud wall.

Mike Advances and doesn't do much.

I continue forward with the cloud wall, shooting the hunter at the Seraph.

Mike kills my Objective and goes to 1 CP

I shoot a couple of Swordsmen and cloud up.

Some Swordsmen go into the lines and are able to kill a few trenchers; I of course forget they have tough.

Mike Scores 1 more CP (2 Total)

I retaliate by clearing the Swordsmen and killing a couple of Warspears.

Eventually the wall opens up and Rhyas feats pushing Typhon deep as well as a couple of Spears, able to remove Gallant and 2 Lances as well as the few remaining Trenchers.

He Scores 1 more CP (3 Total)

Baby Haley, 2 Lances and the Centurion kill Typhon and I put a Lance into his zone along with Finn.

Rhyas is able to charge and Slizzice the Centurion (it also turns out Polarity field is an imprint not a * action) Dominating my zone and going to 5CPs.

Scenario Loss

Thoughts:

I should remember Trenchers have tough.

The list was fine but I didn’t use the Unchargeable Centurion correctly, he should have been where Gallant as and he wouldn't have died nearly as easily.

Gallant did nothing really but I can see its use.

Storm Lances have reposition, I should use that.

This list probably needs an armour fixer like Ragman but he’s frowny at Harlan and Gallant.

The Squire probably isn’t necessary with revive plays being less likely.

DEF 15 Trenchers are a great front line Jam/Screen unit.

I managed to finish painting up Stormclad #3, happy without it turned out and there’s no ambiguity about what Warjack he is. 

Getting in a game or two against Khador on Wednesday evening and then there is a tournament in the local shop that I am running on Saturday; we have 16 people playing so there should be some good games going on and hopefully some interesting lists.

2 Weeks till the WTC!

Its been a while since I updated, I've been a busy person and feel I should get this one in before the few more games I'm likely to get in next weekend and then I reckon it'll be a WTC Wrap up after that.

I also have a GoPro Camera on the way which I can hopefully use to record some games and upload them, might also do a vlog for the WTC, will see,

I played in a Local SR two weekends ago and managed to get in 3 games, only 1 with Haley2 post nerf.

I am able to jam zombies and Boomhowlers into zones and into his models whilst he makes attacks to try and kill them all. It takes too long before he can kill them all and I win on clock, turns out DEF16 Gun Mages are hard to hit.

Dave unfortunately is pretty inexperienced with Haley2 and gives me Thorn for free on my turn 2. I feat first but with Thorn dead and decel protecting the Nyss sufficiently I am able to get up on scenario and attrition, he goes for a long shot assassination and fails and then the Stormclad bops Haley.

I get all but 2 of the Bloodtr(ack)(ous)ers on my turn 1 and two wolf girls. Phil hits me back hard and kills some things but I clear a line to Morv, on 6 transfers, and plop a Ranger near her then Caine guns her down.

This marks the end of tournament due to time/tiredness etc so we go to the scores and I come up on top due to SoS.

I got in two other games, one against the expected victor of the WTC Solo Masters and Team Ceol alternate.

I throw my pieces forward and do my best to sorta jam up and feat on Rob, he counterfeats and all his things are now unengaged and can put some hurt on me.
I am able to weather the storm and it turns into a long slow grind. I am able to get Eyriss onto Kreoss and Haley finishes him off with Arcane Bolts to the face.

This matchup has really changed after the Haley feat nerf and is a lot harder to play now.

I decide to punish myself into Lylyth2 against Mike, to see how bad it is. Spoilers: it's pretty bad.

I push up and feat, due to positioning the Ravagore can't benefit from Lylyths feat as he's blocking LoS to Lances and I weather the storm okay. I manage to get up on Scenario to go to 3-0 but Mike throws loads into the zone and with Stealth affecting his beasts I can't TK everything out and Haley dies for her trouble.

This could have been way worse if there were more Ravagores in the list and Mikes placement was fractionally different, and I think Lylyth2 will be one to avoid for now.



I also got some more painting done, of Legion toys.

I was able to get a solid Alpha and then trigger Espionage and removed 2 Raeks, 2 Scytheans and damaged the Seraph in one turn and went on to win.
By rights I shouldn't have got the 2nd Raek or the Espionage but there was some confusion over true strike under Thags2 feat and Mike let me have a massive take back (Activating Thags first under feat)

This weekend we're having a local SteamRoller for about 16 players so I should get in at least 4 games and some good practice.

I have also been helping out with the painting of more Legion and I got the Legionnaires and Farilor done and started on eVayl.

I won the roll and opted to go first, I unpacked with the Lances and Blades on the Right, Stormclad Central and Nyss on the Left.

Alan ran everything forward screening with the Nihilators with Tiberion and the Arcuarii central.

I advanced with the Nyss and shot some of the Nihilators  and also assaulted in with the Storm Lances and put the Stormclad into Tiberion. I was able to Black Oil Tiberion and then feated with Haley.

Hakaar triggered Vengeance and hit a Storm Lance but failed to kill it. as did Zaal but he was wedged in a couple of Animi and Spells went out and thinks shuffled about, Hakaar and the Soulward Killed a Lance each. A Nhilator moved up into the Nyss.

Post feat the Nyss cleared the Nihilator and the Willbreaker and controlled Alans flag, Gorman moved up and Black Oiled again, catching Tiberion and some Arcuarii again. The Stormclad was then bumped sideways out of Tiberions Melee range and killed 3 Arcuarii. The Stormblades assaulted killing Hakaar and the Lances Charged in and attacked the Shaman. Haley moved up to dominate my own flag and I scored 2 points.

Alans Shaman and Krea frenzied killing a Lance with the Krea and the Shaman missed. Zaal moved in and killed the remaining two Lances. a Nihilator charged in and Berserked on 3 Blades killing all of them. Nothing was able to contest so I scored 2 more points.

I end my turn and score 2 more.

I also played a small Demo game with pStryker and was down to Stryker and the Charger who were able to Earthquake and then shoot Irusk to death.

Haley3 has been temporarily shelved as I am helping my Brother out with his Legion toys for the WTC, I was able to get the Pot Ladies done on Sunday evening and will be working on some more toys in the near future, it makes a change from generic normal humans, even though the pot ladies are pretty much that.
